What a system assessment covers

A system assessment gives you an independent view of your IT environment before you make major technology decisions.

We review infrastructure, applications, integrations, performance, security controls, backup and recovery, and operational processes. Each finding is rated by its business impact, not only its technical severity. You receive an executive summary, a detailed technical report and a prioritized roadmap that separates quick fixes from longer-term changes.

What you get

What the engagement leaves you with.

  • Coverage of technical, operational and security aspects of your environment.

  • Findings prioritized by their impact on operations and the business.

  • Vendor-neutral recommendations based on your environment and goals.

  • Assessors with experience across several industries.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does a system assessment cover?

A full assessment can include: infrastructure (servers, storage, network); applications and databases; integration points and data flows; performance and resource use; security controls and vulnerabilities; operational processes and management tools; backup and recovery; documentation; compliance status; and alignment with business needs. The scope can be narrowed to specific systems or concerns.

How long does a typical system assessment take?

It depends on the size and complexity of your environment. We give you a dated plan once the scope is clear. The assessment covers discovery, analysis, findings and the report. Targeted assessments of specific systems are often shorter.

How disruptive is the assessment process to our operations?

Most data collection and analysis does not affect system availability. Any activities that could, such as scanning or performance testing, are scheduled in agreed maintenance windows or low-usage periods. The main demand on your team is documentation and interviews, which we schedule around their availability.

What deliverables will we receive from the assessment?

Standard deliverables are: an executive summary of key findings and recommendations; a detailed technical report with supporting evidence; a prioritized roadmap with implementation notes; and supporting material such as architecture diagrams where relevant. We present the results to both your IT team and executive stakeholders.
