Network Assessment

An independent review of your network's performance, security, architecture and management, with prioritized findings and recommendations.

How we run a network assessment

We assess LAN, WAN, wireless and cloud connectivity across four areas: performance, security, architecture and management.

For each technical finding we note which applications and teams it affects. The report separates quick fixes from longer-term changes, so you can address current problems and plan for growth.

What you get

What the engagement leaves you with.

  • One evaluation covering performance, security, architecture and management

  • Technical findings linked to the applications and operations they affect

  • Vendor-neutral recommendations based on your environment

  • Assessment by experienced network engineers with cross-industry experience

Engagement

How the engagement works

  1. We agree the scope with your team, collect existing documentation and configurations, and map the physical and logical topology.

  2. Our experts analyze network traffic patterns, utilization levels, latency, packet loss and throughput across your environment, identifying bottlenecks, oversubscribed segments and capacity limits that affect application performance.

  3. We assess your network security controls, including segmentation, access controls, firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention, encryption and monitoring, identifying vulnerabilities and compliance gaps.

  4. Our team evaluates your network architecture against best practices and your business requirements, examining redundancy, scalability, complexity, standardization and support for critical applications and services.

  5. We deliver prioritized findings and recommendations, from quick fixes to longer-term improvements, each with its business impact and what implementation involves.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does a network assessment cover?

A full assessment covers: physical and logical topology; LAN, WAN and wireless environments; network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers); connectivity and bandwidth; performance and utilization; security controls and vulnerabilities; high availability and redundancy; monitoring and management tools; configuration standardization; documentation quality; compliance status; and business alignment. The scope can be narrowed to specific concerns or cover the entire network.

How long does a typical network assessment take?

It depends on the size and complexity of the network. We give you a dated plan once the scope is clear. The assessment includes discovery, analysis, findings and the report. Targeted assessments of specific segments or issues can often be done faster.

Will the assessment disrupt our network operations?

Most data collection is passive and does not affect network performance or availability. Any active testing that could affect performance is scheduled in agreed maintenance windows or low-traffic periods. We coordinate with your team so that all activities follow your change management process.

Can you assess cloud connectivity and software-defined networking?

Yes. We assess traditional networks as well as cloud connectivity, SD-WAN, virtual networks and hybrid environments. For cloud and software-defined networks we also review orchestration, policy management, integration with traditional infrastructure, security controls and performance.
